In this paper we address the potentialities offered by the dialogue between disciplines to think about the history of the Argentine-Chilean southern Patagonia and the construction of new forms of knowledge. We focus on two dimensions, first we problematize the current state of the public archives of the region, a key aspect for the work of historians. Secondly, through the review of our own research experiences, we delve into the particular relationship between history and literature, proposing an approach to different representations and narratives that have been built about southern Patagonia in different fields of regional history studies such as political history, gender studies, work and education.
