From a multi-sited ethnography, this article analyzes a specific aspect of transnational life of a group of young Uruguayans in Buenos Aires: the intergenerational dialogues where they plot their militancy on political forces of both countries. From the metaphors they proposed for thinking their own migratory trajectory and policies, this article discusses three interrelated issues: the production of alternative reterritorializations or geographies to develop links between the two bordering countries and the innovative/transformer of their practices; the links established among youth, migration and modernity, and the particularities that can be observed from the South-South migration, sometimes overshadowed by the significance in literature of the South-North migration processes.
