The study offers a detailed view of the factors affecting the useful life of houses in terms of energy demand and thermal comfort. In this regard, the social housing model of the Instituto Provincial de Vivienda in Salta is analyzed by identifying thermal behavioral problems in order to find an economically and sustainable solution to reduce energy use. This was achieved through the software SIMEDIF, which analyses the dynamic behavior of the building and its components allowing to estimate the level of comfort expected. External insulation is shown as the most efficient strategy, although building technology, infiltrations, orientation and color are also significant.
