The aim of this paper is to analyze the information encoded and inferred about non-angular static spatial relations in qomlé’k/toba of Western Formosa. An emphasis on the codification of the position and orientation of the figure in estatic locative predicates is demonstrated. The analysis is pursued from the semantic typological perspective following, mainly, Levinson & Wilkins (2006) and Ameka & Levinson (2007). The corpus is composed of narrative texts and data collected through visual elicitation stimuli such as Topological Relations Picture Series (Bowerman & Pederson 1992) and Picture Series for Positional Verbs (Ameka et al. 1999), and selected images (specially, in what regards the orientation of animate figures). This research contributes to increase the knowledge on the grammar of space in languages of the Gran Chaco region, and enables future crosslinguistic studies. In future researches, the grammatical resources used and the semantic distinctions made on other spatial subdomain and in genetically and areally related languages will be studied.
