Through the analysis of documents about Griselda Gambaro’s debut as a playwright and about her play El Desatino, mostly published between 1965 and 1970, I propose to describe some of the strategies for building and authorizing her artistic trajectory in the context of disputes around the definition of an argentine theatrical avant-garde in the 1960s in Buenos Aires. In particular, I focus on those strategies that aim to make their trajectory and their authority in the theatrical field viable by circumventing gender and class constraints, namely: self-taught training, artistic and loving partnerships, the circulation of prestige among the playwright, other artists and the Di Tella Institute, and the relationship with the city.
