This paper is the result of research carried out for the degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Caleta Olivia Academic Unit of the National University of Southern Patagonia. We start from the assumption that communicational accessibility is conditioned by an ableist approach, in the light of the preliminary findings of the fieldwork carried out, in a process that seeks to analyse the training of the students of the bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication belonging to the academic offer provided by the aforementioned headquarters in tools that promote such communicational accessibility. Based on the theoretical perspectives closest to the so-called social model regarding the definition of disability and the epistemological shift that has occurred in the field of communication in favour of the appropriation and recreation of discourses, this research favours a qualitative approach. Thus, through interpretation and hermeneutic understanding, we seek to put into tension the existing regulations on equal opportunities and human rights present in the Integral Programme of Academic Accessibility in Public Universities to which the university adheres, the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Law No. 26.522 on Audiovisual Communication Services, and the letter present in the Foundations for the Creation and Syllabus of the aforementioned degree programme, in order to unravel the reasons behind the apparent lack of accessibility in the field of communication.
