Historia de las investigaciones arqueológicas sobre grupos humanos prehispánicos de la provincia de San Luis

Abstract

En este trabajo nos referimos a la historia de las investigaciones arqueológicas, mayormente de contextos cazadores-recolectores de la provincia de San Luis, Argentina. Se discute la idea sobre la antigüedad de las ocupaciones humanas más tempranas en San Luis según los distintos investigadores que trataron el tema. Estos referentes son participes de momentos históricos diferentes del desarrollo de la arqueología en nuestro país, que van desde principios del siglo XIX hasta la actualidad. La discusión gira especialmente en el análisis de los artefactos de piedra, y como su estudio fue abordado desde las distintas concepciones teóricas y metodológicas del desarrollo de la disciplina.This paper deals with the history of archaeological research, mainly related to hunter-gatherer contexts in San Luis province, Argentina. We discuss about the age of the earliest human settlements in San Luis, following the different researchers addressing this issue. These researchers have contributed to the development of Archeology in our country at different historical times, from the early nineteenth century to the present. The issue revolves especially around stone artifact analysis, and the way in which such study was conducted from the different theoretical and methodological approaches of the discipline development.
