The passage narrating the prodigious birth of Don Manuel, contained in the Libro de las tres razones, is one of the most difficult to place within Castilian historiography. To address this gap, we seek to establish its hypotextual relationships with the chronicles of the Crown of Aragon. In particular, in the present article, we will analyse the influences of the Llibre dels feits on the Juan Manueline fictional composition, through the coincidences and displacements that have occurred. Through these, Don Juan Manuel transformed a Catalano-Aragonese royal fiction from the 13th century into an effective device for legitimising and exalting a Castilian noble lineage; and in the process, erased the urban manifestations of Jaime I's messianism, to exalt a link between the infant Don Manuel and divinity, without any urban or noble confirmation.
