This paper presents some results of a doctoral thesis in which we study the link between physical and symbolic conflict in different acts of protest. The aim is to present some theoretical and methodological keys for the analysis of the representations of conflict through six protests in Argentina between 1996 and 2002. Using some tools of Critical Discourse Analysis, we propose to analyze the statements published in the print media in episodes marked by the road blockade as the main method of protest. The main feature of these events is the high magnitude of physical and symbolic confrontation between the subjects involved. We take the statements as units of analysis, to present the main features of the interpretations of social conflict in this period of time
