This paper analyses the strategies with which de Artwork “Reconstrucción del retrato de Pablo Míguez” of Claudia Fontes deals with the idea of “disappearance” as a mise en abyme of the spectator role. We analyse this sculpture taking in consideration the dichotomy between cult value and exhibition value of art (Benjamin) ant its connection to the concept of spectre (Derrida). We understand that the way in which this Artwork presents itself as memorial and homage to the victims of State’s Terrorism of the last argentine dictatorship refers to the irreductibility of the past to the diverse manipulations of the present, both in an epistemological and in a political perspective.
