This paper uses the concept of hidden discourse as a method of daily resistance proposed by James Scott, and its transformation to public discourse, deployed in the artisanal fishermen's fair of Puerto Madryn (Chubut, Argentine Patagonia), where demands, concerns and requirements are expressed towards state authorities. At the same time, the deployment of activities that led to the invention of new traditions at the fair was analyzed, with the aim of building a group and historical identity before the local population. It was suggested that the purpose of these actions was to increase the labor market and to build greater recognition of both the authorities and the community. The fair was held during Easter Week and was promoted from the beginning by the artisanal fishermen themselves. Methodological tools of oral history (semi-structured interviews) and social history, participant observation in fairs, as well as qualitative analysis of the local press were used.
