This paper analyzes the arguments that the legal doctrine in Argentina utilizes in order to deal with the problem of human cloning. In order to do that, argumentation theory and metaphor theory will be used. From the most radically critical to the more modest positions, cloning is understood in a metaphorical way, as authors resort to this rhetorical device, so to define it and interpret its characteristics and effects. As a consequence, human cloning is interpreted predominantly as an industrial or mechanical reproductive method, which would affect the individuality and dignity of human beings. In addition, some texts attack also science, since its technoscientific innovations would entail serious dangers for the human species and because it lacks of any internal limits, which could indicate when to stop.
