Built from an anthropological approach, this article presents a series of conceptual and methodological reflections on an issue that very often rises up both social and sociological discomfort, this is, what we call “clientelism”. The article is grounded in a dialogue between my own research about politization experiences in Greater Buenos Aires, and some of the issues both presented and discussed at a recent seminar, “The country that Argentines see: results from the Americas Barometer”. In this opportunity I focus on rescuing a series of epistemological and methodological agreements and disagreements, encounters and missed-encounters, of an inter-disciplinary dialogue which concerns to anthropologists, sociologists, and political scientists.
