Carretera Austral: ¿Integración o fronterización? Representaciones geopolíticas en torno a la ruta austral durante la dictadura militar (1973-1990)

Abstract

El ensayo se proyecta como una invitación a pensar de manera distinta la historia de Aysén y su relación con el Estado chileno, marcada por la cuestión fronteriza, a través del estudio de la Carretera Austral. Los estudios de este camino se han enfocado tradicionalmente en su dimensión tangible, material, elaborando una imagen puramente ingenieril, objetiva e inocente de la obra. Por el contrario, acá preferimos el ámbito simbólico de sus representaciones para revelar lo ideológico, conflictivo y político de la ruta. La pregunta ¿integración o fronterización? anima el nudo reflexivo y señala la posibilidad de una crítica.This essay is an invitation to think differently about the history of Aysen ands its relation with the Chilean State, marked by the border’s issue, through the study of the Carretera Austral. The studies of this road have traditionally focused on its tangible and material dimension, producing a purely engineering, objective and innocent image of the path. On the contrary, here is emphasized the symbolic scope of the representations to reveal the ideological, conflictive and political dimension of the route. The question, integration or frontier? Animates the reflection and points out the possibility of a criticism.
