In the present work, the effectiveness of the WHO recommendations for the treatment of the air of rooms hospitalization of patients with COVID-19 is evaluated. Given the high risk involved in carrying out experiments with the virus itself, the study is implemented through simulation. The proposed model is solved analytically. The results show that centralized air treatment, according to current recommendations, is not effective enough to guarantee the health of healthcare personnel. This conclusion is valid regardless of the technology used by the sterilizing device. As a better alternative, in this work, decentralized air treatment is proposed. For this, individual isolation tents are installed in the beds of the patients and an independent sterilizing device is assigned to treat the air of each of the tents. The evaluation of this alternative showed that it can guarantee that there will be no contagion during an acceptable time of stay in the room. The tents to be used are inexpensive and easy to install. In addition, the size of the sterilizing devices assigned to the tents is much smaller than that required in the centralized alternative.
