The present work exposes from a detailed petrological-structural approach, a synthesis of the complex geology of the Las Lajas shear belt, and its importance in the evolution of the basement of the Sierra de Comechingones. The Las Lajas shear belt can be considered as an important geological discontinuity, since its activity is concentrated in the Paleozoic and is still currently linked to regional tectonics. This deformation zone has an extension >35 km long and an average width of 1.5 km, whose limits and geological characteristics show an activity linked to ductile to brittle domains, and is currently linked to the active Las Lajas-Sampacho fault system. -The gaps. The detailed analysis of the lithologies and the internal structure, suggest that the intensity of the deformation is increasing from north to south along the shear zone, expressed by the intensity of the rework of the protoliths and the proportion of mylonitic rock belts. (s.l.). The study of the deformation fabrics and structures has shown that the Las Lajas shear belt is a ductile-brittle deformation zone that acted under a deformational regime with dominant inverse kinematics and vergence to the west.
