This paper offers a historical exploration of childhood within environments characterized by a prevailing rurality, without being from the countryside. We refer to them as "village" childhoods. Our focus is on General Belgrano, a district in the Salado River basin in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the seventies and eighties. Particularly, we delve into the impact of the last military dictatorship (1976-1983) on shaping specific aspects of childhood. Through the lens of memory, we reconstruct various everyday scenes with a particular emphasis on recurring spaces such as school, the street, and the Salado River. These aspects serve as focal points for observing how social dynamics influenced the childhood experience, all while acknowledging the dictatorial influence that characterized the examined period. Furthermore, we highlight the connection with the rural through diverse ways of imagining, perceiving, or experiencing the space.
