This paper aims to explore aesthetic attention in relation to the experience of the beautiful in Immanuel Kant's Critique of the Faculty of Judgment. To do so, it starts from a reconstruction of what it considers a certain anti-Kantian climate in contemporary theory, which calls for a departure from the dualisms that characterized modern philosophy while denying the possibilities of Kantian philosophy, especially its aesthetics, to think these issues. Against this, the paper approaches a concept of attention from three different dimensions of Kantian analytics of the beautiful: first, it dwells on the analogical potencies encrypted in the recourse to the “as if”, to which the German philosopher resorts again and again to bridge the cleavages that his own philosophy had contributed to cement. Secondly, it deals with what Kant called “reflective judgment” as a particular mode of judging the singular. Finally, he opens up the question of an ethos of attention, dwelling on the figure of “delay” that would be consubstantial to the experience of the beautiful.
