This essay examines the bond between violence and social relationship, its “psychopolitical” dimension, that is, the composition of the mood tones that integrate individuals into spheres of coexistence. Peter Sloterdijk's thinking on this topic is investigated. Also, a genealogical approach to the articulation between technique, aesthetics and kinetics is presented in order to explore the psychopolitical conditions of contemporary societies, and the capacities for their technic mobilization. This focuses on the co-emergence of chemical warfare and propaganda during the First World War. To this end, two of the most lucid interprets of these transformations, Ernst Jünger and Walter Benjamin, are also considered. Finally, what Sloterdijk thinks as a mutation of epochal scope is discussed, which implies the transition from humanistic to posthumanist forms of social composition and which lead him to propose that ours is the era of “hyperpolitics”.
