Our aim in this article is to identify the gravitation of the discursive routines related to the construction of the bodies/female subjectivities in the journalistic discourse of the province of San Juan (Argentina), and to interpret them in relation to a symbolic gender grammar. In order to attend to this aim we conducted a comparative work of two synchronous cuts with the intention of exemplifying observable variations and continuities in the treatment of the female during the 1920’s and the 1990’s. Our attention is focused on the gravitation of two categories which go through the corpus texts: the whim and the sacrifice. The methodology of qualitative cut articulates the archive work with Discourse Analysis tools and gender studies. To conclude, one of the ideas organizing our reflection presupposes that the media fulfill the function of constructing and imposing imaginaries. In consequence, we hold the necessity of analyzing its hegemonic representations or the peculiar way of constructing the sexed bodies through methods and media in relation to disciplinary narratives of culture and power.
