The Cuchi Yaco marbles and migmatites are located in the central-southern sector of the San Carlos Massif, in the northwest of the Sierras Pampeanas de Córdoba. In the rocks of the studied area, forsterite and clinohumite marbles, and garnet-cordierite diatexitemigmatites, with a nebulitic structure, and stromatitic metatexites-type are recognized. This lithological set records a complex evolution, with six regional metamorphic events and five deformation events, deduced on the basis of mineral paragenesis, reaction textures and microstructures. The M1-D1 event was mainly identified through relict S1 foliation in garnet schists. During the M2-D2 event of the metamorphic peak, high temperature paragenesis was generated in carbonate protoliths and partial melting in pelitic-greywacke protoliths, for which temperatures > 700 °C and total fluid pressures of 5 Kb were estimated, with variable XCO2 for marbles; concomitantly, the S2 metamorphic foliation was generated. This foliation was reworked by sheath folding with postcrystalline deformation in several minerals. In turn, these sheath folds were refolded by gentle folds. Subsequently, a generalized extension occurred, with a decrease in pressure and temperature, which produced important corona textures. Finally, two stages of cooling and hydration generated intense alteration in all the rocks in the area.
