The aim of this paper is to examine different areas of debate that are present in the essays written by Cuban authors born around 1989. To that end, we determine the themes of these texts, the forms they take, and where and how they are published. Based on the selected corpus, we observe a temporal coexistence and differentiated circulation between the essay and emerging critical writings. The reflective prose produced by these authors displays thematic plurality and diversity in writing forms, dissemination, and sociability. In the case of the essay, we identify a preference for approaching the textual form of the academic paper, whereas emerging critical writings not only incorporate a more immediate mode of sociability and circulation through the web, but also adopt unstable discursive forms.
