The article develops a technical perspective on human-animal bonds, focusing on the mediation carried out by bodily fluids and organs. Based on the Amerindian myths compiled by Lévi-Strauss, interspecies ties are analyzed within the framework of assemblages, composed of operations that overlap the artifactual and the living. The American marsupial opossum, linked to the introduction of agriculture among humans, provides the guiding thread of the reflection, which questions the abstract nature of the human-animal link, replacing it with symbolization formats associated with the concrete and mediated by living matter. The technical operations that connect humans and animals include the transformation of bodily fluids into food, as well as the incorporation of artifacts into organic processes through forms of decomposition and recomposition of the body.
