This study aims to present a series of refl ections on the links between political discourse and the documentary genre within the framework of the contemporary Argentine culture characterized by a hypermediatization and hybridization process of traditional communicational genres. For this purpose, we selected the recently produced short documentary Javier Milei Presents: Pandenomics, directed by Santiago Oría (2020). Upon the basis of an articulation between political discourse analysis and the theory of enunciation, we intend to question this film’s semiotic functioning in terms of its political content and as a symptom of the materiality Leonor Arfuch (2002) calls “biographical space”. We highlight Oría’s film’s importance as a rupture in the aesthetical components privileged by the Argentine right-wing prior to the rise of the Mileist libertarianism. In the second place, we hold that this audiovisual discursivity produced a narrative that granted meaning to the dislocation raised by the pandemic in our culture, specifi cally within the political field in the absence of assertive, forceful, and satisfactory responses, and had the role of a discursive strategy oriented to the configuration of an ethos: an enunciation position for a disruptive ideology.
