Despite the benign nature of video game use, given the exponential growth of gaming activity in the world population, the scientific community has focused its efforts on the analysis of the possible negative consequences of problematic or addictive use in the context of the inclusion of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) in the DSM-5. The aim of this work involved the systematic review of IGD assessment instruments available in Ibero-America. Eleven articles were identified, which included validations of seven instruments. These were described based on their general characteristics and psychometric properties. The lack of development of tools in the Latin American region was identified, presenting as a disadvantage not only the preponderance of tools originating in Europe, but also the fact that they are linked to theoretical models prior to the diagnostic criteria stipulated by the APA. Only two instruments organized their statements on the basis of the IGD nomenclature. Furthermore, there were few studies that provided data on cut-off points and the consequent analysis of sensitivity and specificity, in order to provide profiles of gamers in relation to the severity of the behavior or style of play displayed.
