The Argentine writer Aurora Venturini (1921-2015) left a large and significant literary archive. Among the manuscripts and typescripts of her poems and literary fictions are drafts of her translations of both Arthur Rimbaud’s work and Isidore Ducasse’s (Comte de Lautréamont) Les Chants de Maldoror. In this article, we first present the genetic dossier of Venturini’s translation of Les Chants de Maldoror, published in Buenos Aires in 2007 under the title Cantos de Maldoror : Satánica Trinidad. Secondly, we examine Venturini’s drafts and some selected examples of the philological collation of variants between the pre-textual documents and the published book. This critical approach allows us to show Venturini’s particular method of translation, influenced by creative processes related to her trajectory as a fiction writer. Finally, from the perspective of ecdotics, a branch of philology concerned with the way texts are edited, namely the emendation, reconstruction, and critical edition of texts, we focus on textual problems identified in the published version of Cantos de Maldoror : Satánica Trinidad.
