In this article, we problematize the notion of arraigo (rootedness) by focusing on the mobilities experienced by young people living in rural worlds. Based on findings from research with Mbya Guaraní and criollo (local non-Indigenous) youth studying at the Tajy Poty Intercultural Bilingual Institute (Cerro Romero, Gobernador Roca, Misiones), we ask about what is locally referred to as hallarse in a place. This is a native category connected to territorial identifications shaped by available traditions of knowledge, expressed in embodied and virtual ways of inhabiting farms, Indigenous communities, the colonia (rural settlements), the school, and the interstices between these spaces. The data were constructed within the framework of two collaborative projects carried out with the school, as well as anthropological research in different rural contexts of northeastern and central Argentina concerning youth formative experiences. We conducted interviews and ethnographic observations in the school, communities, and colonias, along with cartography and community theater workshops, an educational visit, and walks along local paths with the young people.
