The objective of this work is to characterize the diversity of arthropods present in nests of Phacellodomus ruber in the biogeographic region of Esteros del Iberá, Entre Ríos, Argentina. A total of 30 nests were collected. A total of 14346 adult specimens classified into 87 morphospecies belonging to the Arachnida and Insecta classes were collected. Within Arachnida three orders were found: Ixodida, Araneae and Pseudoscorpionida. Within Insecta, the most representative Orders were Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, and Lepidoptera, followed by Blattodea, Dermaptera, and Orthoptera orders. Two insects Taphropiestes sp. and Phobelius sp. were permanent residents, while the pyralids were occasional residents, using the nest as refuge for pupation. Diabrotica speciosa and Paeredus sp. were recorded for the first time as accidental residents and Polybia sp. was recorded as occasional resident. According to our results, warm season presented a higher diversity of arthropods than the warm season in terms of richness, abundance, and Shannon index. In fact, the cold season had 24% less biodiversity than the warm season, with respect to morphospecies in equivalent terms. The data obtained allowed us to know a little more about the composition of arthropods present in P. ruber’s nests; providing information of interest that could be used in future.
