This article problematizes the positioning of Laclau´s postfoundational theory of hegemony in the post-Marxist field, placing the shaft into the normative level, link with the transformative social praxis and acceptance of differences as constitutive. To do that, it based on the positions and debates of its main texts since the rupture with Marxist traditions, in 1985. It seeks to answer the following question: what remains of post-Marxism in Laclau´s theory of hegemony? The main hypothesis affirms that, in the last three decades, it can be identified in the work of the Argentine thinker three historical-political and intellectual stages (though not merely chronological). These stages present a triple displacement which can be examined from the socialist, democratic-egalitarian and plural dimensions, and results in its last stage, on a weakness of the normative dimension and a factual abandonment of Marxist heritage.
