n this article I analyze Jacques Derrida ́s texts where he quotes Baruch Spinoza. One of these quotes is used by Derrida to show Heidegger ́s deafening silence on Spinoza. For the French philosopher, this effacement is due to Heidegger ́s rejection to include the Ducht philosopher within modernity. I claim that the reference to Spinoza shows the difference between Derrida and Heidegger on the possibility of dividing the history of philosophy into different periods.
