In this paper, I will make a series of provisional, and by no means exhaustive, considerations concerning the emergence of a new global form of Marxism and the possible futures of what, despite everything, continues to be called Western Marxism. I will proceed in three steps: first, I will present what I like to call Jameson’s hypothesis—an assumption or conjecture according to which, during the last few decades, Marxism would have become as global, transnational, and late as capitalism in the development of its neoliberal phase (1); next, I will pay attention to the most important characteristics and implications of the archipelago of the thousand (and one) Marxisms that would have been formed in this peculiar historical moment or stage of the aforementioned critical theory of capitalist modernity (2); to conclude, I will meditate on what remains of Western Marxism in this scenario and try to formulate some kind of answer (3).
