The present work aims, in a general way, to show how pathology can be understood from the phenomenological method of reduction. Recognizing the distinction between a third-person description made by biomedical discourse and a firstperson description focused on the patient's suffering, the analysis, in the first part, takes the studies of Havi Carel and Thomas Fuchs to establish the model of access to the experience of the disease in the first person. In the second part, the work is concretized in an approach to the chronic disease of anorexia to show how phenomenology can establish analytical criteria that do not only concern an epistemological and ontological dimension of the suffering of the disease but also the ethical field.
