In this paper, we argue that these objects actually come from different sites within Quebrada de Humahuaca where Karl Schuel excavated between 1920 and 1923. Among other indicators, special attention is given to an inventory of specimens recovered in his excavations that the Austrian researcher kept during those years, where it is possible to recognize several objects belonging to the NMAI collection. We identify the most likely sites of origin of the materials and briefly assess their potential for research regarding the late prehispanic history of the region (1000-1600 C.E.).
