The addition of steel fibers to the concrete improves its postcracking behavior increasing the material ductility and preventing brittle failure. The mechanisms that contribute to the shear capacity of fiber-reinforced concrete are not fully known. On the other hand, although different test configurations were developed, there is no standardized method that allows direct evaluation of shear behavior. The stress states in the failure zone of the specimens are not uniform and include other stress components. The behavior of different types of tests found in the bibliography is numerically analyzed in this paper a composite model based on a modification of the mixing theory that allows the sliding of the fibers with respect to the matrix is used for fiber reinforced concrete. As model validation, the numerical response is compared with that measured in the tests. Additionally, the distribution of stresses and the combination of stress leading to failure are analyzed. In this way, the differences between the shear strength values obtained from different test setups using simplified form can be justified.
