In this paper we presented, a) a description of the results about the application of Motivated strategies Learning Questionnaire, that assesses self regulated learning in two scales, b) we examined the validity of the scales as well as the homogeneity and discriminative potential of the items. involved 282 subjects (133 students of Medical school, 55 belonging to a private university and 78 to a state university, and 149 students who were pursuing architecture and design careers at a state university) who were administered the instrument mentioned in a collective class situation. The results of the motivation subscale showed ,56 to ,89 reliability (Cronbach’s alpha), an adequate item homogeneity (item instrument biserial correlation) and an acceptable to high discriminating power for 87% of the items (percentage point difference between higher responses from extreme groups). also, the learning strategies subscale obtained statistically significant homogeneity coefficients, a higher discriminating power (from acceptable to high for 96% of the items) and lower reliability values (between ,43 and ,76). The results showed that Motivated strategies Learning Questionnaire is a useful tool to understand and evaluate in a quick and effective way the self-regulated learning in university level students.
