| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this article is to trace and analyze narratives of moral careers associated with the stigma surrounding the people who uses antidepressants as part of their treatment for depression, and the interactional dynamics of these narratives online. Methodologically, the biographical method is applied in conjunction with digital ethnography guidelines, and videos published on YouTube between 2018 and 2025 by residents of Argentina are analyzed, along with the interactions they elicit. The theoretical approach recovers and integrates perspectives and concepts from different socio-anthropological currents: pharmaceutical social studies and symbolic interactionism. The novelty of the study lies in integrating concepts such as moral career and stigma, of symbolic interactionist origin, with approaches from pharmaceutical social studies to explore public narratives about the use of psychotropic drugs in social networks. The results highlight multiple fears and stigmas associated with losing one’s authentic self when starting, during, and at the end of antidepressant use.
