The paper aims to contribute to the definition of that heresy of Marxism that is often defined as “postoperaism” (or postautonomism), and does so on the basis of the Foucauldian toolbox. Beyond the use of Foucauldian concepts that can be traced in the theoretical production of authors such as Antonio Negri, Michael Hardt, Paolo Virno or Maurizio Lazzarato, such as “biopolitics”, the text argues that Michel Foucault's theoretical tools, in particular the concepts of “ethos” and “genealogy”, can shed light on the definition of the label "postoperaism".
