The article presented is the result of the activities carried out in the research project that was approved and financed by the National University of La Plata, during the period from 2018 to 2022: “An approach to the work of women in the Platense horticultural belt. Their prominence in retail marketing and public spaces.” As highlighted in its title, the article seeks to understand the role and prominence of women in the production and retail marketing stages in the horticultural belt of Greater La Plata, as well as their participation and significance in trade union organizations. The paper also includes the perspectives of professionals from both the public and private sectors who are involved in this issue. The methodological approach used is qualitative, employing techniques such as in-depth interviews with qualified informants from the public and private sectors, as well as with the producers themselves. It should be noted that the fieldwork was carried out mostly during the period covered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The results obtained through qualitative techniques allow us to conclude that there is significant participation of women in the different links of the productive circuits; however, there is still a lack of recognition of their strategic and fundamental role, particularly in organizational spaces and in activities required in the domestic sphere.
