This article is framed within the field of labor studies that address the contemporary redefinitions of work in the context of the erosion of full employment and labor rights. It analyzes the constitution of grassroots entrepreneurship in Argentina as an emerging form of labor insertion within the broader trend of erosion of wage labor relations and the implementation of social-labor programs inspired by the human capital paradigm. Based on a case study of a municipal business incubator in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area and through a qualitative approach, the article examines how these programs fostered training processes oriented toward self-management and the acquisition of entrepreneurial competencies. These processes express an active appropriation and reworking of managerial discourse by entrepreneurs, mediated by the use of digital platforms and by the valorization of autonomy in the organization of work. The study contributes to understanding the emerging modalities of popular labor in the digital era and the tensions between autonomy, work intensification, and the actors’ capacity for agency.
