The current presence of Puma concolor in Entre Ríos remains controversial, but recent appearances with great journalistic impact dispute it. In this work, current and historical records of the species in the province are reported, which were contrasted with maps of environmental and bioclimatic units to analyze their distribution. With the results we infer that the puma is not extinct, even more so it reproduces in our territory. The potential distribution area of the puma would cover 14.6% of the provincial territory concentrated in the central-west sector. In this sector are native forests with a high level of fragmentation, a situation favorable to the expansion of this felid. The distribution presented in this work, added to complementary studies, may detect biological corridors that allow maintaining the genetic flow between the different populations, and thus work on restoration processes of fragmented natural corridors, with greater ecological value. However, it should be considered as a species threatened basically by anthropic factors, having to carry out new studies that define population nuclei, densities and dispersal corridors while waiting for the new Provincial System of Protected Natural Areas, which includes a great diversity of Private Reserves. In a habitat suitable for the species, contribute to the sustainable conservation of this emblematic felid. Due to its wide distribution, it is suggested to maintain the puma’s categorization as Least Concern, but the implementation of a monitoring and surveillance program for the species in the provincial territory should be a priority.
