In 2011, five graves were found in the Clandestine Detention, Torture and Extermination Center (CCDTyE) "Ex Arsenal Miguel de Azcuénaga" in Tucumán (Argentina), three of which presented structural and depositional evidence consistent with removals, while another two were linked to burials. in situ and in one of them 13 disappeared detainees were identified. Based on the particularities recorded during the archaeological excavations, we focus on those graves that showed signs of removal/cleaning after the initial burial. We pay attention to the particularities that define it as such and how its existence joins the chain of genocidal practices of the systematic plan of extermination and regional concealment. Starting from this particular case, we articulate the archaeological information with testimonies and documents of the time and we approach what elements (shape, structures, features, materials, presences/absences) define these burial pits as "removed", but also what other similar cases are registered at the national level and what contextual relationships we can establish with the analogous cases documented in the Southern Cone.
