La actualidad de los estudios sobre el turismo: Temas, perspectivas y contribuciones desde las ciencias sociales

Abstract

El turismo ha experimentado un crecimiento notable en las sociedades actuales y el interés por generar conocimiento en torno a esta práctica ha seguido una suerte similar. Este artículo busca ofrecer un recorrido por los estudios sobre el turismo recuperando especialmente los aportes realizados desde las ciencias sociales. Para ello se centra en algunas perspectivas y temáticas que se han consolidado en los últimos años en torno a este campo de estudios. Específicamente se desarrollan tres grandes ejes: la valorización turística de la cultura, la valorización turística de ambientes naturales y la relación turismo-desarrollo. El texto también presenta algunas temáticas que se vislumbran como nuevos interrogantes y abordajes de este campo de estudios.Tourism has experienced an increase in contemporary societies and the interest in tourism research has developed accordingly to this process. This paper aims to introduce some recent contributions made by social sciences that have enriched tourism studies. In order to do that it discusses some theoretical perspectives and topics that have become well established in this field of knowledge. Specifically, it develops three main issues: the tourist valorization of cultural resources, the tourist valorization of nature, and the tourism-development nexus. The paper also introduces some emerging topics that indicate innovative approaches in the field.
