The contemporary city became the scene of a series of transformations associated with “late” or post-industrial capitalism, which resulted in profound socio-spatial problems. In this context, urban public space assumed a new relevance to the extent that, since the last decades of the twentieth century it increasingly constituted a disputed spatiality in various respects. First abandoned by deindustrialization, it was then the target of state and enterprise actions in urban planning, design and requalification. Against this, in various cities around the world, a series of attempts by various social agents began to proliferate to achieve a genuine access to these areas, increasingly stripped of its "public" sense. Many of these attempts took the form of performative and aesthetic interventions that sought to make the space "public" by its occupation in unconventional ways. In this paper, some experiences of appropriation and resignification of public spaces in that key will be studied in the city of Rosario between the mid 1990s and early twentyfirst century, by tracking artistic itineraries that connected central areas, suburbs and a series of parks in the central coast.
