One of the most important problems in the theory and contemporary political philosophy, exacerbated in recent decades, is the absence of alternative political projects aimed to the radical transformation of the sociocultural, historical, economic and institutional order. In this framework, the original reformulation, in post-Marxist key, which develops Ernesto Laclau (in part, with Chantal Mouffe), presents some relevant analytical categories to complement some shortcomings that can be observed in postmodern approaches, reduced to an ontological negativity from the core values of modernity. This is due his theoretical tools, along with a radicalized review, contribute to building a practice alternative, aimed at political and cultural transformation of the social order. This paper proposes, in this sense, understanding the Laclau’s theory of hegemony as a post-Marxist philosophy of the praxis, highlighting some of their potential contributions to build a left democratic socialist alternative.
