In this reflection article we will show how within a research project we approach the problematic center-periphery relationship in a context of territorial dispossession that for a long time tended to reify subjects and their territory because they occupy a disadvantageous position in a network of exchanges commercial and economic. To do this, we will review how this relationship operates as a product of a hierarchical scale, to dismantle it and recognize that certain spatio-temporalities positioned as a center operate as a subject of dominance in the face of a periphery that has become an object of dispossession in extractivist contexts. This problematic center-periphery relationship recreates the subject-object duality of Cartesian thought that ignored the coexistence of different space-temporalities with historical subjects with the potential to project another possible horizon and challenge this scheme. Therefore, in this article we will examine how the notion of center and periphery has played in the scientific-disciplinary discourse, and how the notion of peripheral spaces permeated in our ongoing research project.
