Nuevas localidades de registro de conejo de los palos, Dolichotis salinicola (Burmeister, 1876), en la provincia de San Luis, República Argentina, aportes a su historia natural

Abstract

El conejo de los palos, Dolichotis salinicola (Burmeister, 1876), presenta una amplia distribución en Argentina, encontrándose en tierras áridas y semiáridas de la región chaqueña. Sin embargo, no está claro el límite sur de la misma, encontrándose discrepancias en la bibliografía. Este trabajo aporta nuevos registros de D. salinicola en la provincia de San Luis. Los registros fueron realizados mediante observación directa y revisión de material depositado en colecciones biológicas. Se contribuye a delimitar el límite austral de distribución de la especie, y se realizan aportes sobre su historia natural.The Chacoan cavy has a wide distribution in Argentina, being distributed in arid and semi-arid lands of the Chaco region. However, the southern limit of this distribution is unclear, finding discrepancies between authors. This work provides new records of Dolichotis salinicola (Burmeister, 1876) in San Luis province. These records were made by direct observations and the revision of material deposited in biological collections. The present note is a contribution to determining the southern limit of the distribution of the species, and to the knowledge of the species’ natural history.
