This work sought to quantify the surfaces covered with water by the Paraná River in different hydrological periods (humid, normal and dry). The calculation was made in the area corresponding to the upper south course, the middle course and the upper delta of the Paraná River. For this, images from the Landsat-5 TM, Landsat-8 OLI and Sentinel-2A satellite were used, which were processed on the Google Earth Engine platform, mosaics were made and the cutout was carried out at the limit of the area under study. Subsequently, the Modified Normalized Water Index (MNDWI) was calculated from which the surfaces covered by water were extracted and the respective thematic maps were prepared for the years 1998, 2013, 2020 and 2021. The information generated is very useful for planning adaptation measures to extreme events.
