In this article, we study the news reports on the land seizures in El Triángulo in the city of Libertador General San Martín (Ledesma, province of Jujuy, Argentina) that were published in the newspapers El Tribuno and Pregón between July 20, when the conflict began, until August 14, 2011, when the Simultaneous and Mandatory Open Primary elections were held. We investigate the role played by the media, the place this land conflict occupied in the media agenda, and we highlight the way in which these phenomena were exposed by the media. To this end, we conducted a content study, considering the theoretical approach of agenda setting. From this, we observed that, initially, the issue did not appear in the local media. This was the case until July 28 and 29, after a violent eviction and its fatal consequences, which meant that the media could no longer avoid the conflict and the unrest that was taking place. In the case of the dominant local media, they had to publish due to social demand, as the issue was being covered by alternative media outlets. As for the topics of related news stories, the media agenda is strictly focused on politics and, to a lesser extent, social protest.
