Agroecology is presented as a basis for the construction of an alternative territorial development model for popular organisations of peasant and indigenous family farming, in the face of the challenges posed by the advance of agribusiness. It is these organisations, whose practices are framed within the popular economy and are oriented towards the extended reproduction of life, that promote agroecology as a form of resistance. For this reason, in this article, based on reading and consulting the literature, we ask ourselves about the relationship between agroecology and the popular economy. However, in order for the two to mutually strengthen each other, we understand that it is necessary to account for the role played by popular organisations. Our hypothesis is that it is the organisations that make the possibility of coordinated collective actions that integrate the popular economy and agroecology viable, giving rise to the construction of an alternative territorial development model. As a final reflection, we understand that the existence of organisations allows for the coordination of actions, the circulation of knowledge and the implementation of strategies that promote agroecology in conjunction with other popular economy practices. In this way, agroecology is territorialised, agribusiness is deterritorialised and popular economy circuits are strengthened.
