The concept of heritage has progressed over time whereas ore recent conceptions understand it in a territorial dimension and as a process or social construction. In this sense, landscape emerges as a representative element of this change in the scale of observation and analysis of heritage. Taking into consideration the presence of dominant landscape components, the rural landscape appears as a typology. This is the focus of this article, which takes the Los Barriales district of the Junín department, province of Mendoza, Argentina, as the study area. By means of a mixed methodological approach that articulates qualitative and quantitative strategies, the purpose is to make its landscapes and rural heritage visible and to evaluate their incorporation into (potential) tourist circuits. Among the results obtained, we highlight the large number and diversity of rural landscapes existing in the predominantly rural area, with a long history and socio-cultural identity, and with great potential, but invisible from the point of view of heritage and tourism value enhancement.
